The Aurora Mk II is a small starter multi-role ship, manufactured by Roberts Space Industries. The designers have reinterpreted the classic ship with a fresh perspective, completely redesigning the reliable Aurora from the ground up. This new version enhances performance, usability, and aesthetics for a new generation of pilots.
Key features
- Modularity: The Mk II has been engineered to facilitate the attachment of bespoke external modules to the rear of the vessel, enabling the vehicle to concentrate its functionality on specific requirements. These modules can be easily attached and detached using just a personal tractor beam or through the mobiGlas Vehicle Loadout Manager
- Weaponry: The vessel is outfitted with four Size 2 gun hardpoints and four Size 2 missile hardpoints
- Variable-geometry wings: The Aurora has a four-wing design with a backward-swept over-under configuration. The shorter lower wings feature VTOL fans for hovering and landing. All wings can fold back for a compact landing profile, resembling the original Aurora's wings
- Internal space: The Mk II inherits the original Aurora's compact interior with a single port-side access leading to the pilot seat, an engineering terminal, a bed, a suit locker and weapon/utility racks
- Cargo: The base hull possesses a 2 SCU drop down internal cargo hold that can store container sizes of up to 1 SCU. There is also two internal shelves that can each hold a 1/8 container (0.122 SCU)
- Personal item storage: Inside the ship there is an internal storage space that can hold up to 1000k uSCU of various items. There is also a suit locker, however as of Alpha 4.7.0 this functionality has yet to be implemented
- Weapon/Utility racks: There are internal racks that can hold two Size 2-4 weapons (no utility tools), in addition to three Size 1 pistols or medguns, as well as three Size 1 utility tools
- Easy access components: All ship components are readily accessible, including those situated at the top of the ship, which can be reached by climbing the cockpit window from the very front
